About the CheckoutSmokeAlarm test browser
If you saw CheckoutSmokeAlarm in your logs, that was an automated check the store owner asked us to run.
- It visits a product page, adds one item to the cart, opens checkout, and checks that shipping options and payment methods show up.
- It stops before payment. It never types card details, never places an order and never presses the pay button. The only thing it types at checkout is a test shipping address the store owner gave us (usually their own business address). It doesn't type an email.
- It blocks ad and analytics pixels so it doesn't add fake events to the store's marketing data.
- It runs about once an hour per device type, one check at a time.
- It identifies itself in the user agent and, when the store owner provides one, signs storefront requests with Shopify's Web Bot Auth headers. It does not solve CAPTCHAs or try to hide from bot protection.
Store owners can stop the checks at any time by replying to any Parcyo email. If you run a store and didn't ask for this, email [email protected] and we'll stop immediately.
